Things People Ask
Most tarot apps treat the cards as a closed system. Mythlume reads each card through a second lens — your Chinese zodiac sign — so the same card carries a different weight for a Tiger than it does for a Rabbit. Each reading is composed live by an AI model, never pulled from a template.
Nothing at all. The deck (the twenty-two Major Arcana) is shuffled for you, the spread is laid out for you, and the reading is written in plain English with no jargon. If you're curious to learn more, the symbolism is there to discover at your own pace.
Your birth year determines your Chinese zodiac sign — Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, and so on. It's the only thing we ask, it never leaves your browser (it's stored in localStorage), and we never link it to an account. If you want to change it, clear your site data.
The deck is the standard Rider-Waite Major Arcana — the same twenty-two cards used by tarot readers for over a century. The keywords, archetypes, and symbolic meanings are drawn from established tarot tradition. The Eastern overlay is our own contribution: a deliberate weaving of Western archetype with Chinese zodiac character.
Each reading is generated by Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. We give it the card you pulled, your zodiac, today's date, and a strict set of writing rules — be literary not woo-woo, never predict the future, never give medical or financial advice. Then we let it compose. Two pulls of the same card on the same day will read differently.
No. We don't predict love lives, lottery numbers, illnesses, or deaths. Tarot, in our view, is a mirror — it reflects the present moment back to you in symbolic form. Whatever you do with that reflection is your work, not ours.
As often as you like. Many people pull one in the morning as a kind of meditation. Others pull when a decision feels stuck. The cards don't keep score.
Your birth year stays in your own browser. We don't run analytics on individual readings, we don't sell anything to advertisers, and we don't have user accounts to leak. The only personal data we ever collect is your email — and only if you choose to subscribe to occasional updates.
Mythlume is in its early days, and we'd rather give the experience away while we're still shaping it. Eventually we may offer optional paid features — deeper spreads, journaled history, custom decks — but the daily pull will always be free.

Belief is not a prerequisite. Many people use the cards as a journaling prompt, a creative spark, or simply a quiet pause in the day. Take what's useful, leave what isn't.
